Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups milk of your choice (dairy, almond, coconut, etc.)
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cacao powder, maple syrup, vanilla, and milk. Stir until well combined and the ingredients are dissolved.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly. Do not let the mixture boil.
  3. Once the hot chocolate is hot and steamy, remove it from the heat and pour it into mugs.
  4. Add your favorite toppings, such as marshmallows, whipped cream, cinnamon, or nutmeg, and enjoy your delicious and healthy hot chocolate immediately.

This recipe makes about 4 servings of hot chocolate, depending on the size of your mugs. You can adjust the ingredients to your liking and add more or less of each ingredient to suit your taste.
