  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional mix-ins: chopped cacao nuts, cacao nibs, fresh banana slices, etc.


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, cacao powder and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth and thick.

  3. Pour the mixture into a shallow container and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until well chilled.
